Heehee! I would have figured! And thanks! I'll maybe take you up on that...
Are you at all troubled by some of the images used by Am. Ap. in their ad campaigns (especially the billboards here in L.A.)?
Can't say that I'm familiar with them...in fact, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen an american apparel ad. I've only ever ordered am ap products from cafepress. What's the scoop?
Well I think that Feminsting does a better critique, you might search the site for it.
The ads often feature very young models in a soft core erotic way. The billboards more so, only in contrast to the other ads, tese are almost exclusively females. In the Hollywood Store, close to where I lived, they display a large number of Oui Magazines (a "men's magazine " from the 1970's. I asked and was told the owner liked them. I found myself uncomfortable shopping there with my 12 year old daughter or my girlfriend. I am no prude but it was off putting somehow.
Sometimes that copy is suggestive too, mentioning wet t-shirt contests.
On the other hand the company pays a living wage, was out in front on immigration issues (pro immigrant).
A tad confusing.
